1. Nature:
Chemical name: Sodium formaldehydesulfoxylate dihydrate/Rongalite C

Physical properties:
Rongalite C(Block,powder,granular) particles are salts with strong reducibility, and white condensed blocks or powder or granules are protected by alkali.
Chemical properties:
A.The Rongalite C block (powder, grain) is easy to get damp and release heat, and it begins to decompose at 80ºC, releasing H2S, which needs to be dried and stored at low temperature. 6NaHSO2·CH2O+3H2O - →4NaHSO3+2HCOONa+2H2S+HCOOH+3CH3OH
B. When the temperature rises to 110ºC, the Rongalite C block (powder, grain) is completely decomposed, and formaldehyde in the molecule splits to release new [H], with the strongest reducing power. NaHSO2·CH2O -→ NaHSO2+ CH2O NaHSO2 + H2O -→ NaHSO2+ 2[H]
C. Rongalite C block (powder, grain) decomposes when it meets oxidant, such as I2. NaHSO2·CH2O+2H2O+2I2 -→ NaHSO4+4HI+CH2O D. The Rongalite C block (powder and granule) should be in alkaline medium with PH>8, and acidity (acid limit PH>3) can make the Rongalite Cblock decompose hydrogen sulfide.

4. Uses:
It is mainly used in printing and dyeing industry as discharge agent, discharge agent, reducing agent and activator of styrene-butadiene rubber and synthetic resin, and also used for decolorization and bleaching of some organic matters (such as synthetic rubber, sugar making and food industry as bleaching agent), which can be used instead of sodium hydrosulfite under certain specific conditions.
