Chromic acid is most commonly used as cleaning liquid in the laboratory, both acidic and oxidizing, can remove the fouling and insoluble material of the inner wall and the outer wall of the experimental instrument. Jones REAGENT: AQUEOUS solution of chromic ACID, sulfuric acid, and acetone oxidizes primary and secondary alcohols to corresponding carboxylic acids and ketones, in which unsaturated bonds are not affected. Pyridine chlorchromate: Prepared from chromium trioxide and pyridine hydrochloride to oxidize primary alcohols to aldehydes. Collins reagent: Adduct of chromium trioxide and pyridine.
